Maame Raggae, 01 Feb 2017Overall 2016 Samsung sold more units than Apple still. So? The average Samsung is 250-300 USD max? The cheapest iPhone is 399 USD with an average closer to 650 USD per Apple device sold. Please use your brain. Thanks.
Apple pips Samsung to become worlds top smartphone player. The word 'pips' means defeat by a small margin or at the last moment.
However, why the article blindly claimed, "Apple is now the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world (surpassing Samsung for the first time in last five years)...". Overall data still prove otherwise. Please elaborate.
Note7 owner, 01 Feb 2017Samsung will be back on top with its new legions of explosives.... ;) whoaaa lol
What will happen when Nokia joins the game?
What will happen when Samsung Galaxy S8 floods the market?
Watch out Apple because your reign will be short-lived!
are you crazy ? samsung is 1st supplier by a huge difference ! learn to read the report, and watch the hole year status !
Glad to see Huawei at the 3rd spot. They make some seriously good devices but i was rather surprised to see Oppo and Vivo in the rankings! Where are Xiaomi and Lenovo?
Huawei will take first place in a few years. There growth speedis faster than both apples and samsungs.
Also take into mind, they dont sell their phones in the US fully ;)
There we go. I thought it was fishy Apple havent manipulate any news and data this year. Misleading title; yup, thats a must-have item on Apple sleeves. Picking their one and only good sales in one of four quarter of last year; good choice. Emphasizing on one and only success they have against Samsung; of course they need to provoke Samsung and Samsung only, other brand is useless to compare to. Apple being so mature and adult like.(srcasm)
If it wasnt for the Note 7, Apple wouldve never become No 1, ever.
Hey people !! Apple sold only in Q4 2016 just 700.000 units more than Samsung. Remeber Samsung recalled 3 millions of Note 7 !!! Samsung is in fact no. 1 becausr it sold more for real !!
Shadow Snypa786, 01 Feb 2017People say "thats what happens when you flood the market with so many phones" But where do ... moreYeah I totally agree. But I was saying Samsung have diversification on top of that. They definitely sold millions of their other products together. Their flagships are another level that compete directly with the iPhone. But as they have so many phones out. There name Samsung has more of a hold on the market in general and drowns out many other competitors. Especially when people in the Western World are only just hearing of Xiaomi and such.
What with this article? Its contradict with the article Gsmarena wrote last month. http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_sells_90_million_smartphones_and_8_million_tablets_in_4q_2016-news-22975.php
Samsung sells 90 million smartphones and 8 million tablets in 4Q 2016. How is that number drastically dropped to 77.5 millions? This is so fake by Apple.
rrhyme, 01 Feb 2017A serious question, does the Note 7 shipping included? It it include so samsung will win, imagine the number of shipping (sell) and shipping back (recall) Note 7 after explode! lol
But that will not be for too long ... it will change after s8 release
GoingHomeAgain, 01 Feb 2017Yeah take into account the Note 7, Samsung would have beaten Apple clearly in the 4th. But ove... morePeople say "thats what happens when you flood the market with so many phones"
But where do people think Samsung get majority of their sales from??
Low range phones and mid rangers? Not when Huawei and xiaomi are selling devices better specced and cheaper.
Majority of revenue comes from their flagships S7, S7 Edge, S6 Edge, Note 5. If Note 7 had no issues and didn't impact the Samsung brand and lose customers it probably woud have been Number 1 for the 4th Quarter.
