AnonD-2486, 09 Apr 2011Hello sir i am also from India, and in india there are not so much android phones. Which city ... mores40 is meant for feature phones only in which nokia is quite bullish, no doubt about that but when it comes to smartpnones nokia is way behind others. 5233,5230,5235 etc are all the same differing only in one or two features but remember these are only entry level smartphones and released around 2 yrs back. It means 2 year old benchmarks... They were a rage when released but how many people nowadays buy these phones over cookie or star or corby series. The same is with 5800, it is too old to be purchased now. The people you are talking about must have purchased these phones 2 yrs back... These phones can't help nokia increase their share for next 5 years..
I think nokia was too popular in the past. Now they didnt do much improvement with their software because they did not prepare for the release of operating systems from other brands that will kill symbian. They should buck up and make a good os better than any other or they will lose in the war =x

The one mighty Operating System that rule the mobile phone market is now loosing. But every thing has its own time. Symbian rules for the last years, it's over now, it's Android regime now. But still I don't have plan moving to an Android/iOS device.
AnonD-5683, 09 Apr 2011ha ha, that mean NOKIA will become second by 2015. lol...What a great news :DYou're forgetting that Samsung, LG, and HTC are also WP OEMs. It's not like Nokia is the only one to have WP.
ha ha, that mean NOKIA will become second by 2015. lol...What a great news :D
Android always has the potential to be the largest selling mobile OS one day, but seriously WP7, no freaking way.

Which city you are in? though android is gaining now fame but still majority of Indians have symbian phones. Be its touchscreen or non touchscreen the most famous phone (Touchscreen) in india is 5800, 5233, 5230. In the hands of every teenager you will see it. And S40 series phones are most used phones in india because its very easy to use....
What a clowns those anonymous analysts are!
Windows have already become synonym for lame for young generation. It will never pass in popularity Apple, RIM, Android.
Since Microsoft can't force buyers to buy their OS together with hardware (what they were doing for last 10 years on PC market, when buyers were forced to become Windows users) Consumers now have a choice of superior OS on mobile market, and they are fed up with Microsoft. Every professional in marketing will tell you that product life, just like any company's life, has a beginning and an end. And Microsoft is on it's last breath at the moment.
iits not a big deal on android. just like cliking 15 times to edit on mp3 song on windows 7. Right now the companies are experiencing the ways. I was symbian user and now android user. Yes its good by symbian but i had preious problems and its just like 15 no. Touch gesture is in first steps but after many years it cant change sa much.
There is a really bad thing about Microsoft to the manufacturer.. Microsoft won't hold on to WP7 for so long.. The next WP8 won't be support the WP7 spec..
No way, nokia will hold on with Mirosoft for long because they will loose customer just like HTC did during the olden days..
They are talking about mobile OS .. and the profit of taking the lead of marketing and competition .. sorry nokia n symbian fans.. but i rather believe in professional analysts with many years experiance theory then your rookie opinion .. face the facts.. symbian os is just not good thats why nokia is switching to window mobile.. u either accept the facts or be dumb with ur own selfish opinion .. android will be the top one day.. and they are talking about the future .. not today or tomorrow k rookie mobile :)

they're talking about the operating system not the cell phone manufacturers
It'll never happen. After using android for a year people will realize how crappy it is and then go back to a more reliable smartphone
Although I'm an Android fan in terms of software, but I must admit no other brand can match the hardware Nokia brings. I would have loved to see Nokia fight back against Android with much more advanced versions of the Symbian OS. I can't totally agree with what this prediction is saying. I personally have a feeling the Nokia-Microsoft WP7 OS won't work out very well. And eventually Nokia will resort to a lone battle against the Android arsenal with rapid and impressive upgrades of their flagship Symbian OS.
G. Fatih Gokce, 08 Apr 2011I don't understand the expectations of various analysts. I don't think that Symbian is dying. ... moreBy success you mean how sales of the e72 and e73 mode was so piss poor? Just because the e90 and e71 did great does not make the e series a success. Why wouldn't symbian be less than 1? Sure nokia is still selling symbian devices hissed evtualky it will be phased out once the Microsoft nokia deal goes through and nokia starts pumping out wp7 devices when sk8 becomes more well received. Like I know right? Why are these analyst being so mean?! *sniff* despite the fact that nokias average selling smartphone price wad only 150 euros and TBA htc even though a much smaller company than nokia and ships way less phones than nokia has slightly better margin profits than nokia!!! These analyst are such meanies!!! /sarcasm. Hahahah
Why do these analysts always assume that just because Nokia adopted WP, it will be 2nd by 2015? It's not like Symbian users will convert to WP. Brand loyalty?
that's not going to happen. symbian will lose ground but not in such a bad way. all people of mid ages and above 90% are buying symbian phones and that is not going to change. there aren't other phones at low cost and easy usability like symbian. so unless nokia drops it, it will remain at high sales. now about android and wp7 indeed things will get better, but who knows how
I don't understand the expectations of various analysts. I don't think that Symbian is dying. You know Windows Phone 7 is not for business. With the last changes within the Symbian open source, that is that Symbian is open for business partners I think that Symbian OS will be used for the E series then, or what the Business Series will be named.
I expect that Symbian OS will be smaller than 10% but not 0.1%!!! You all know how successful the E series is.
All this predictions are obviously made to favor Win7 in hopes that this charts will influence some readers in buying a few WP7 powered phones.
As you know, the best lie is that inserted between two truths :)
It's very easy to predict Android as the leader (that's more than obvious) but Win7 on second place ?!! ..please !!
Nokia was unable to produce a decent terminal since I can't even remember...all their money and market share comes from selling cheap devices in 3rd World countries.
The fact that Nokia supports WP7 means absolutely nothing now, they couldn't even impose their own OS Maemo (which by the way, wasn't all that bad).
The problem with Nokia, as I see it, is the bulky design, cheap aspect and low quality plastic and craftsmanship of all their products (result of moving production from Germany to cheaper countries, and cutting back on production costs). I remember my first phone (5110) which was made in Germany (battery as well)...was a flawless jewel, it worked perfectly for many years...now put any recent Nokia device near an Apple or a Blackberry, or even HTC or SE, for that matter...
Sadly, all Nokias, for me, now look like a 10,000 euros Mercedes made in India.
So, unless Microsoft doesn't receive enough help from other manufacturers which actually produce up-to-date terminals, there's absolutely no way they can get over Apple and RIM.
