Hey, We all know symbian is Zombian now...
Let Nokia concentrated on Meego phones and WP7 for good.
0 - $250 = Meego Phones
$200 and above = WP7 phones
thats awesome!!!

So if Accenture develops Symbian and Microsoft develops WP7 , does this mean that Nokia will become a Hardware only company ?

IMHO I think this might actually be good news depending on how Accenture works with symbian. Honestly Nokia didn't give Symbian the love it deserved, hence the failure we have now.

Hopefully Accenture will put more attention on symbian fixes and upgrades. Just a wish, though

This is good. At least Accenture will handle Symbian development "seriously" as compared when it is still in Nokia. You can't expect Nokia to support both WP7 and Symbian when in fact, they would just ignore Symbian anyway.

Nokia started out with Symbian internally.
Then set up a separate entity to manage and develop Symbian, to make it more easily adopted by other phone vendors (Sony Ericsson, "Japanese" phones).

If Nokia outsourced the development staff to Accenture, that should permit Accenture to more tightly control the development staff, and come up with higher quality releases of Symbian.

Symbian is a genuine smartphone OS, not just some kind of power hungry Unix that's been downsized to fit a mobile (Linux-> Android, BSD -> MacOSX -> iOS).

All the stuff missing from stock shipped Symbian has always been available from third parties (eg Opera).
So it's not Symbian that's to blame but the dispersion of developers with many bosses who work for their own company (product line) within Nokia.

Nokia Phones are top notch in terms of quality and durability, if they were only to embrace Android OS I would be one of their avid phone user. Or at least continue to develop the Meego platform so Android open source OS will have competition.

Ash, 23 Jun 2011I hope Nokia just make really good WP7 and Meego phones. Really impressed with their N9 phone.... moreYeah, these specs are the best for Nokias standards, Is trying hard to bring Nokia users a good piece of hardware, jumping from top 680 MHz, to +1 GHz, and even dual cores WP7's

Cheers to Nokia....The time is Now!!

What the previous Nokia CEO failed to do was to push the company forward. Although Stephen Elop is a Windows fanboy, he is doing the right thing to push the company forward. WP7 with its proper updates will allow Nokia to be back on competition again. Nokia N9 and N950 are most likely to be their only MeeGO devices as they are too slow on developing MeeGo OS. Nevertheless, Nokia make great phones with great materials.

Accenture will continue to develop and provide support for Symbian till 2016 as previously promised by Nokia

Nokia is almost kill Symbian support. Maybe they will transfer support to others, but this will be OUT of Nokia, Nokia will be not responsible anymore of Symbian.

Even everybody knows Meego is DOA, and even in the Linux community don't have too much hopes on Meego suceed...Nokia needs to sold the N9 in a very good quantities to start thinking in bring us another Meego phone, or this will be the first and last Meego Phone from Nokia.

                            http://www.itworld.com/mobile-wireless/176087/first-and-last-meego-phone

Meego is NOT the OS Nokia need to get in the game...has to pass too many years for develop a Nokia Meego devices and the N900 Series was a real disaster in sales....They needs WP7.

Is really sad but symbian has the days counted, and Nokia knows that....The era of Symbian is almost over. I hope be wrong, but even Nokia wants to stop all developing of Symbian....And Meego need to have good sales if not, is dead too...this is business and they need good prifits, not keep followers or loyalists happy...

The need make cash and grow...and for now their partnership with Microsoft is the only matter that Nokia have in mind, is fully working on it and concern at all.

I wish Meego is pushed forward though :D N9 looks so sleek.

It's seems is official........Symbian is dead or almost.

Nokia is totally focused on Windows Phone OS, even Meego is not a priority for Nokia right now, it's time to get more profits and make money quick because Nokias has some loss and need to gain Market....

Now they probe have the hardware wi these last phones....is time for launch the Nokia W Series and gain some loss ground...
