It simply means we have a lot of work to do on educating the ignorant about what a good platform is.I don't know any serious tech head, who knows about phones, who owns an iphone.Generally speaking there are 3 types of people who own iphones
1. Ignorant people who buy into the hype:
The fool, "OMG it's da iphone! I want one! da iphone!"
The Geek, "There are so many better phones out there like the SGS2.You should get that instead"
The Fool, "uuuhhh..the iphone is the new black.OMG I want one! it's da iphone!"
The Geek, "but......."
The Fool, "shh! no buts...omg it's da iphone!"
2. People who are curious about what the phone has to offer. We all know what curiosity did to the cat.
3. Die hard Apple trolls who would buy anything, and I mean anything, Apple shoves down their throat.
Bottom line is,unless the iphone starts supporting teleportation then I will not buy that overpriced,over-hyped junk
Lol, 25 Jun 2011Functionality like turn-by-turn navigation, root file/task manager, Divx player, photo editor.... moreFunctionality like
turn-by-turn navigation: navfree GPS live with offline maps *free*
root file/task manager: don't know about this, never needed
Divx player: i use vlc *free* too bad it's not available anymore for new customers :( great app! plays many many different kind of videoformats.
photo editor: i use photoshop *free* iOS5 brings photo editor
All of those are free and without ads, so i don't see anything wrong about that.
i'm quite sure adobe photoshop is better than any stock photo editor which you can find from phone. It's very good and easy to use and you can get very good result from it with very little effort.

Had to spend? why?
What functionality you are talking about?
i haven't pay any money for basic functionality apps. They are free and most of them are without ads, and many many free apps are too without ads so you dont need to even pay that 0,79e to use it without ads. Most of my apps doesn't have ads.

It's the price that bothers me so much as the principle.
Lol., 25 Jun 2011I'd rather not get spammed with ads, for all your "free" apps.If you don't want ads, then you support developer and give him what he deserve and buy the adfree version or full version which has more features, it's that simple and average price is 0,79e so it's not much for supporting good work.

Your point is very stupid, you said i cant do that one scenario with iOS4, then you realised that you are wrong. Now you are talking about things like paying for apps. Are you poor or something? if you'r life ends when you want to buy some apps it's not my problem.
"I can do all that without having to spend an extra dime"
I can do too 99% of my apps are free :D about 40% of appstore apps/games are free. you know how much apps are in appstore, so there's many many many free stuff in there :) no need to pay extra dime, but of course you get better stuff when you use money.

Lol, 25 Jun 2011I'm gonna call BS on that. This is one scenario what i can do with iOS4 multitasking, using gps instructions, sametime listening internet radio while using iM messasing, while sending video attached email to my friend at background, while downloading songs from dropbox cloud service. While i'm surfing on internet and playing remedy's death rally (great game by the way) for while and using irc.

By the way which part you think i can't do? i can say you are going to loose this one ;) and i'm not surprised at all, you are typical iHater who has no clue about iOS4 multitasking.
Are you those who think iOS4 multitasking is only for freezing apps?

Do you really think i need to use java web apps or web games in 2011 when i have appstore, c'mon :D

OK, so if i can do that (downloading files in background) with iPhone you admit it's a real multitasking?
Checkout what task completion api do, that covers what you said.
So iPhone has real multitasking ;)
I'm still waiting things what you can't do without that unbelievable real multitasking.
Like your case, what i said earlier, most don't understand iOS multitasking that's why they think something is not possible even if it is.
IPhone multitasking can cover almost every scenarios where you need multitasking. Really i haven't had any situations what i haven't been able to do without so called real multitasking.
Most speculated scenario was: can you irc with iOS4 multitasking, most of people thought you cant, but developers made even that possible :)
Most of people talking crap about iOS4 multitasking without ever used it.
robert, 24 Jun 2011MP3 ringtones ?Dude, iPhone has had mp3 ringtones since forever.
