Some part of me thinks that intel delibrately made the hole, then offered to "patch" it, of course for a performance cut and of course, more inventive to upgrade.

-Its not apples fault arm processors have a vulnerability.
-iphone isnt the only affected device. All intel and Arm devices are affected(basically every consumer device on the planet)
-almost all, if not all, effected devices will take a performance hit

This update will propably kill Android phones If it does this for iPhones which always been more powerful.

Luckily for Android users and iOS users this 40% drop has nothing to do with Spectre patch. YouTube is full of videos with different iPhones giving same Geekbench score than before.

It's pathetic from Apple to cause a reduction of 28+40% in performance t... moreThat's a whole other topic and it has been discussed in so many articles already. This article is about the Spectre fix which, according to GSMArena, makes iPhone 6 take a massive performance hit. That is simply is not true and they could easily have done some test on their own before posting this article based on single persons test.

If only Apple was an actual honest company and never slowed down their older iphones. Then even an iphone 5 would still be decently fast to this day. But no.
