GOOGL, 01 Nov 2018I like this feature. Very useful, i think the others OEM must following the Apple to informing... moreI already have this on my entry level android device "Nokia 5", in the support app, it shows the device health, storage status, phone temperature and battery health
I also had the same thing with an advanced level on my old Microsoft Lumia 950, it showed full hardware status "Screen, Sound, Storage, Network, Touch, etc" and also if the battery needs replacement
lol so only a year then it gets throttled... They must really want to hit 2 trillion that bad xD when getting gimped is called a feature... that's apple for ya.
GMX, 01 Nov 2018You can turn it off. Why is this reported by GSMA like it's a bad thing?it is a bad thing. it comes with a software update and is enabled by default, i mean there is no way to avoid having it altogether- you have it on the update whether you want it or not. it is a bad thing furthermore that apple knows their customers GENERALLY do not mess with the settings on their iphones; i know it's a lame argument to having the option to disable it but this is a known fact. however apple fans defend it, it's just simply a way for apple to tell their customers to ditch their old iphones and upgrade to the newest ones. i like apple products and the fact as well that they last longer and depreciate in value lesser compared to android counterparts; i just hate the company for being greedy and always on the lookout for ways to part customers with their money.
Slightly misleading headline for this article very clever.
It's a good thing to have. It shows the health of battery and having option to switch on/off.
My own 7 plus is still at 90% after over 2 years of heavy usage.
There is no throttling issue on the iphones mentioned in this article incase some didn't read article proper or jumped straight to comments.
Other oems will eventually have similar features too.
If it's a useful feature then all is good
.alpha, 31 Oct 2018Don’t expect Android users to know what battery management is. Their phones are designed to be... moreDont expect? On Androids there is a big battery at 4000 mah and still cheaper replacement battery. You must place dont expect on non Androids and you know what is.
I like this feature. Very useful, i think the others OEM must following the Apple to informing users about their device health.
.alpha, 31 Oct 2018Don’t expect Android users to know what battery management is. Their phones are designed to be... moreI have an S6 Edge still going strong in our household and see years old Android phones everywhere. On the other hand, I see fewer and fewer iPhones. The reason, so many people have switched to Android, many because of there poor reliability and built-in obsolescence.
.alpha, 31 Oct 2018Don’t expect Android users to know what battery management is. Their phones are designed to be... moreLmfao speak for your self most andorid have qnovo battery management and xperia devices have battery care should of do your research before bashing Android users
Wow. Look at these people overreacting and complaining. They always did enable throttleing feature on phones that are at least a year old since ios 10!
And you can disable throttling aswell so...
.alpha, 31 Oct 2018Don’t expect Android users to know what battery management is. Their phones are designed to be... moreYeah, you will teach us Sony users about battery management, cos when Apple says you need a new battery, you are obliged to pay for a new one. Right?
Akaike, 31 Oct 2018LiiieeesSorry to disappoint you but I dont own any apple stock nor do i really care whether apple haters believe me.
Although I will just add for "normal" people that Zollotech on youtube had his daily iphone X at 100% battery health for almost a year (He shows it on every ios beta review).
Does anyone actually read the articles?
Batteries degrade? Yes
All of them? Yes
Apple has a built in feature informing you about the health ofyour battery. My iphone 7 plus after 19 months had 89% battery health. Which is relatively good.
If the battery reaches 60% it draws too much power from the battery at full throttle causing instabilities. If the phone restarts due to this, probably in 3 years it will enable throttling when it restarts telling you it was due to the battery degrading. You have the option then to replace the battery, keep the throttling on or disable the throttling and accept that the phone might be a bit unstable. Take a chill pill. The iphone 7 series don’t have this issue yet.
alski10, 31 Oct 2018Apparently you guys havent understood that users have manual control over it. My cousin's iph... moreLiiieees
.alpha, 31 Oct 2018Don’t expect Android users to know what battery management is. Their phones are designed to be... moreNonsenses, have you been having too many [i]Pills?
Don’t expect Android users to know what battery management is. Their phones are designed to be thrown out after 2 years when the battery is worn.
AnonD-781012, 31 Oct 2018This may help to reach the target sales of xs, xs max & xr...and then whey will get sued again
These phones are way too expensive to have a battery pack that degrades so quickly.
