Or they could incorporate a design change.
jamesschwarz987, 12 Aug 2019The thing that i never get in this discussion is why everyone always overlooked the resolution... morewell... CSI series told us they have technologies that can perform unlimited enlargement / enhancement

IpsDisplay, 12 Aug 2019I came to this article just to find a comment like this This is like a drug itch people jus... moreActually, even with sensor and pixel binning, it's not that simple. You also have to factor in post image processing, which solely down to the camera software implementation.
The biggest problem in 0.8um pitch sensor these days are the sensitivity of light, event in good light a slight movement can blur the image so no fantastis, instead they should make 1 or 1.2um 12 mp sensor instead. One of the good implementation is Huawei, the honor with 48mp which magic pro 2 have the Best 48mp mode res compared To anothet Phone (the one with ois and kirin 980)
Huawei with 1um 40mp res also does better job in detail for 40mp compared To most 48mp, check gsmarena photo comparison
Again 1 or 1.2um pixel 48mp is still better than those 64 or event 106mp even with stacking better pixel but low detail level
Olssonvt, 12 Aug 2019What's surprising to me is that nobody here is talking about the thickness needed for a device... moreYou know what? I couldn't care less about phone's thickness. Remember the Nokia 808 PureView and the Nokia Lumia 1020?? Those phones are as thick af, but that didn't stop me from dreaming of owning one.
So at the end of the day, it's just a 27MP with 1.6 micron pixel using the Quad Bayer pixel binning technique. But still, that sensor is larger than the Nokia Lumia 1020. Definitely would love to see how that camera perform against that legend.

Meanwhile Apple... I like iOS and Apple in general, but their lack of real innovation, and super overpriced prices just keep me away from them, even tho I really want to go back to iOS
Haha , 12 Aug 2019Samsung always with the ridiculous marketing and somehow, people still buy into it 😂Your talking about Apple right?
I don't get why you always use the weird fraction/decimal format, why not just 0.75" ?
Anonymous, 12 Aug 2019An f8 on full frame will not beat an f1.5 1.4um set up in low light. Stop spreading that. Yes, it will ...
Crop factor between Full Frame and a 1/2.6" is 6.5x.
Go to any online camera store and for example check a Micro 4/3 lenses.
A 25mm F2.0 will have description of (50mm f4.0 Full Frame equiv).
Crop factor is 2x for M4/3 and 1.5 for APSC.
Do you relly think those sport lenses with almost 40 cm diameter have same aperture diameter than cellphone? LOL ....
What about the lens? It takes a $$$$ lens to make a bright and sharp photo. At best there might be one or two very bulky niche phones that put a worthy lens on this thing. Most cellphone lenses can't do better than 6 Mpix equivalence in daylight with maximum image processing, and they can't light up a sensor this large.
"megapixel doesnt always mean better photos"
huawei and samsung: that statement is so outdated with current megapixel technology, and "doesnt always" mean some that some higher megapixels do bring better photos.
Welp, RIP my storage

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2019Nope. You mean you didn't know about the animosity between the Japanese and Koreans?I was sarcastic.
