From 30 cm away (or around 12 inches) you would not see a difference between 326ppi and 1,000,000ppi. Going past 350ppi makes absolutely no visible difference in display sharpness/clarity unless you look closely at it, much closer than any normal use.
Equipping the XR for example with a 1080p or 1440p or 4k would not make the display look better to the human eye in any way. (unless you get very very close, a few cm / couple inches away from it)

A 828p display vs a FHD vs a QHD display can easily be separated. Higher resolution looks better, gives clearer picture and sharper texts. But its also true that its not a deal breaker for most including me. I would buy a 326ppi screen phone if everything else is good and the price is right for me. I don't hate ios despite it being so restrictive. Right now using a s10e alongside my old 6s plus and i don't see big difference.

If its going to adopt iPhone X's style, I doubt the price will remain for $399 as the XR now is priced at $599.
