Hello Life, 17 Jun 2020Yup sure anything you can imagine... Except for the battle Royale game genre.. there’s nothing... moreOooo yet another person who thinks copying the ENTIRE way a game functions, is just "using the genre". Genres are things like "fps" or "flight sim" not "Parachute onto an island with 100 other players, gather weapons and fight to be the last man standing at the circle closes in".
Domestoboto, 17 Jun 2020...and guess which game smashed (and continues to smash) YouTube and Twitch viewership records... moreAll that and they still can't optimize it to get the most powerful phones to run it at 90 fps. Sad, just sad.
Another proff how gimmicky are high refrash rates on phones. It is exactly what I expected from this review and people buying gaming phones for this? Don't make me laugh :)
Gauri, 18 Jun 2020These battle royal games got overnight popular on Android platform with arrival of phones like... moreSomething has to give, though. Fortnite uses assets and servers that run not well on mobile but very well on PS4's, Xbox One's, and Ryzen+RTX gaming rigs.
The ONLY way to make Fortnite run well on mobile is to create a lighter, standalone, fake version like what PUBG "Mobile" and COD "Mobile" did. Then again, we would lose all crossplay and purchases doing so.
YUKI93, 18 Jun 2020Oh, you mean a gimmick that actually works?: https://youtu.be/ol7yVXxFRd8Better off with a faster charging phone, than have to play with 69 wires attached to your phone, no place for my 4 fingers to place on tiny screen anyways.
And in this article, temperature rise was because of heat from cpu due to high fps gaming, not heat from battery, here that HS system is of little to no use.

"Oddly, however, while the OnePlus 8 continued to chug along even as it was going thermonuclear, the cooler OnePlus 8 Pro was the one that showed us a temperature warning"
It's not odd at all. The 8 is getting hotter means more heat is transferring from the Soc to the frame. The cooler frame on the 8pro means the chip is staying hotter, hence the temperature warning.
Just the fact that OnePlus can cap it at 90fps is an accomplishment.
These battle royal games got overnight popular on Android platform with arrival of phones like pocophone, honor play & asus rog in 2018 & those phones stuttered while gaming. Its sad to see behemoths like fortnite still struggle to provide a nice gameplay experience on 2020 flagship phones that are twice or thrice time powerful..

LilPhone, 17 Jun 2020Probably the graphics aren't optimised for phones? Besides PCs are running on x86. Phones are ... moreActually, PC runs on both x86 and x64. PC's now standardized to only 64 bits and the x86 or simply, 32 bit is just there for some sort of legacy compatibility.
Yeah, Fortnite runs on Unreal Engine 4 which is a universal engine so what could work on PC and consoles can work on mobile since it shares the same engine.
Curious how the ASUS ROGII would hold up with similar testing and overheating.
And i always thought pubg mobile was unoptimised, this fortnite is on another level LMAO
Atleast pubg mobile can maintain 60~90fps on a previous gen sd855+.
Neither overheats, nor drops below 55-60.
Seeing that temperature warning dialogue makes me really want to try out Sony's Heat Suppression solution on their new Xperia 1 ii.

prasad-gsma, 17 Jun 2020The game isn't pre-installed on OnePlus phones. Only the launcher, which is now on Play Store,... moreYep, I meant the launcher only. Who in their right mind would make a 7GB game pre-install. :)
The launcher does has some configuration baked in, which the game detects.
