Another down side for the "selfie cam" implementation is on making video calls. You use the smaller screen portion. Especially Zoom meetings with 6 or more people, it would be not so pleasant experience.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2020"I wish it was lighter, then again that problem goes away when you open it up because now... moreDistribution of weight is real. If you're out on a frozen lake and it begins to crack, get down on your hands and knees so that your body weight is spread out instead of being concentrated at your feet. That way, there is less chance of you falling through the ice.

Mate Xs's design is definitely better than Fold (IMO Fold is more like a folded tablet).. But its durability is questionable.. I don't think Fold is any better as well..

just wait till xiaomi and oppo enter the game, we will see quick price drops. although i can easily afford the Xs or galaxy fold, i'll wait for some time to see the development of other brands and improved durability. I often go to the beach and my phone must survive sand.

"I wish it was lighter, then again that problem goes away when you open it up because now the same weight is spread out over far larger surface area."

This author doesn't know how physics works. He is talking about pressure, which has nothing to do with holding a heavy phone in your hand.

The enthusiasts and rich are tired of the rectangular slab shape and want some novelty, what's the harm. These people replace their phones in months if not weeks.

Normal people would be more interested in durable options that can last them at least 2 years. I say we bring back the Asus Padfone. That device in 2020 would be an instant hit, where we have overpriced smartphones and nonexistent tablets. Or one that fits into a thin and light laptop case.
Sometimes we need to bring back old ideas that were too early for their times and reinvent.

Is it expensive, yes.
Do I miss the Google Play Store, not as much as I thought I would.
This phone is phenomenal and full of geeky goodness that I've come to appreciate.
Also, it's put up with my rough handling and daily usage of it for over after two months.
Don't let the whole fold-able screen thing fool you, this may be the most durable phone I've owned to date.
My only complaint is the same with too many new phones, no expandable memory but I haven't maxed out the 512 GB of space yet so we'll see.

This sounds good, but it's missing:

- Durability and a good 3 year lifespan
- Actual glass screen (logistically it doesn't work of course, but still)
- headphone jack (for me)
- a decent price, not sub 300$ of course, but sub 1000$
- a good battery life
- and if I wanna nitpick, slightly higher refresh rates and stereo speakers

Until then, for a "phone" this is no better than the iPad mini, which was already of dubious existence. But let's hope this will all come in due time, before the world dies from pollution and all other problems!
