You should update your knowledge and start gathering info about technical world. Mediatek dimensity is better and affordable than SD. SD needs good competition now or else they will continue to fool people by charging high prices.
I am disappointed customer of their one plus 8.

It's not even one month and phone hangs in between. Earlier SD chips were good. Bt now they are not even giving good chips and the worst part is they are charging very very high amount. It's time for some competition which will be better for consumers

Wise decision perhaps but make sure the Mediatek chipset is at least Mediatek Dimensity 820 or above.

NO, they are not cheaper!Mediatek chips are undoubtedly cheaper than their Snapdragon counterparts.
I think Huawei will use Mediatek for midrangers, and Snapdragon for Flagships. That would be the wise choice.

Great, was never a fan of Kirin chips due to anemic and weak GPU.
New Mediatek chips are far better.

But the thing is unless you're Samsung, there's no such thing as "in-house" chips. Everyone else is fabless. Kirin chips are made by TSMC. Mediatek, Snapdragon, Apple, also made by TSMC. Huawei did in fact use Snapdragon for their entry-level phones, so switching to Mediatek may just be good business.
