Reviewers keep forgetting that the 3.5mm headphone jack can also be used as mic input in the Pro app. That's a great feature worth mentioning.
AnonD-834088, 20 Sep 2020$950/€900/£800 seriously, way too much, better alternatives out shorly !Like what? There are phones below $950 that can record 4K HDR 120fps videos? Dual front-facing speakers (not a bottom speaker)? Headphone jack and IP rating at the same time? No stupid screen cutout?
You're good at paying $1000 for a Note 20 with plastic back and 60Hz display, but not $950 for a complete package like this? Stupid.
AnonD-909757, 20 Sep 2020My tastes are way too exotic for this phone being "exactly what I ask for" so I didn... moreYour requirements in a phone are ridiculously absurd. I don't think any phone will ever satisfy your needs.
You were asking for 120Hz displays, and after one delivered, now you're asking for 240Hz displays. Seriously, you should just stop looking for phones. You won't find a single absolute best smartphone for you because of your irrelevant needs for one.
It's like one can create a smartphone that could transform into a super car for $100 and you'd still find something to complain. I don't even think you know how to feel satisfaction at all.
How to love Sony when they offer 400 $ discount in USA and not across the world!
Don't care what this does, it's not small like mini was and is very expensive!
For this money i can buy a electric scooter and don't worry about how i get to work
YUKI93, 20 Sep 2020120Hz screen refresh rate, IP65/68 rating, Snapdragon 865 chipset, triple wide/ultrawide/telep... moreExcept the high refresh rate and IP rating, that is all the flagship and even some mid-range devices in 2020 for you.
The sad part is, that some of them cost half the price of this Sony. Now, try saying to the average person that they need to pay 900EUR for this Sony, when there is a similar featured phone from Xiaomi or Realme at 500EUR.
Even the Poco X3 has 120Hz refresh rate and we are talking about a 250EUR phone. So, not so high-end featured in the eye of the average consumer anymore.
Yeah I know, Chinese phones are killing the market and most of the time their software is bad, but it is what it is. And the average person cares more about features on paper, than the actual phone itself.
I really like it, but it is too expensive for my taste.
I also would have preferred it to be smaller and with a normal aspect ratio. I really don't watch that many films on my mobile.
Now I went for the Pixel 4a, maybe I reconsider if the Sony drops in price.

Vitas250, 20 Sep 2020Sure you can have a headphone jack and a water resistant phone.. Sony been doing that for y... moreIt's just those stubborn manufacturers' absurd excuse to sell wireless earbuds that are inferior in quality compared to Sony's.
It's 21:9, it's the same size as my Xperia 5 (aka big) and it lacks ToF - other than that I really like it and it's on my shortlist with iPhone 12 and Pixel 5 this year.
The last time Sony released such a complete smartphone for the time, it was the XZ Premium, and this phone was excellent and well received.
We finally have worthy successors with this 5 II and the 1 II, just with more Sony in it.
No Notch Life, 20 Sep 2020The 120fps video is saved as a slow-motion video, not high frame rate at a normal playback speed.I see
120Hz screen refresh rate, IP65/68 rating, Snapdragon 865 chipset, triple wide/ultrawide/telephoto camera, microSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack, USB OTG support. What could possibly more you want? This is not just the perfect single-screen smartphone of 2020. This is THE perfect single-screen smartphone, full stop.

Had those things been addressed, I would simply have said that it isn't what I look for but I consider it to be quite idea for a classical device.
I see this phone the same way the Poco F2 Pro, really close to the perfect classic smartphone with only few details to changes, except that I consider the price of the F2 Pro to be excellent, even beyond my expectations.
Shanti Dope, 20 Sep 2020Say that to the increasing sales of the Xperia 1 II.
Sad to say, but even that one is bound t... moreSure you can have a headphone jack and a water resistant phone..
Sony been doing that for years before the Xperia XZ2, as well as Samsung. Not sure where this weird understanding that if you have a headphone jack, you can't have water resistance came from on the internet.. Because I seem to hear it a lot lately somewhy. lol
Voted Yes but i already own the 1 Mark 2.

it is more appealing for Xperia 5 ii to have the same flat frame just like the Xperia 1 ii so it can stand on its own rather than rounded ones from Xperia 5.
Anonymous, 20 Sep 2020Why would you need 120fps for 4K video xD. Even 60fps feels unnatural to me.The 120fps video is saved as a slow-motion video, not high frame rate at a normal playback speed.
what would have been wrong with a 5.8 wider (20:9) screen to keep it under 15cm long? i would have bought one. now i'm undecided if i should wait for the google pixel 5 or just get the cheaper pixel 4a
