I had problems with Samsung's (note 7 battery) with sony phones (camera and charging port) with my s20plus fingerprint scanner and it was getting hot . These are real hardware problems ; pixels have some minor software sometimes and they get fixed . iPhones have these minor software problems as well.

Not just that, the 4a 5G costs *£150* more than the 4a, for which price, on Christmas discounts, I could also buy a Mi 10T Lite with 750G chip, HRR 6.67" screen, good stereo speakers, fast charging, long battery life and better frame rates in games than the 4a 5G - on top of buying the standard 4a for when I want my pure Android moments. For the UK at least, that's the end of the discussion.

If you change them because they have problems, congrats you just played yourself, that means they aren't good phones.
Yep. Agree. #Google and their price problem... The prices would go fine like this: Pixel 4a $349, Pixel 4a 5G $449, Pixel 5 $549.
Those price would have been fair.

You'll probably tell me all of your Pixel devices were perfect but the widespread reports and stories speak for themselves. And now the gulf in camera quality has been shortened there is no USP to the Google devices. Fast software updates? That means being a glorified bug-tester for Android.
With £50 or £100 Cashback and bonus £200 Bose headphones the Pixel 5 was not such a bad deal for many.
With that discount it made the Pixel 4 the worst buy!

I couldn't disagree more strongly. At least when looking at the UK prices:
4a - £349
4a 5G - £499
5 - £599
The 4a 5G is a huge leap up in price from the standard 4a with only a small bump in performance, indeed the entry level 4a even seems to get better frame rates in demanding games. Equally, few people need 5G, or can even access it, and a fairly poor ultrawide angle lens is barely worth it.
The Pixel 5 brings lots of extras to the table that make it a worthwhile upgrade for a "mere" extra £100.
For my money, go for the base model 4a or the top 5.
Google is definitely loosing on the mobile phone market. After 5 generations of pixel phones, the last generation of phones is still not officially being released in multiple countries. Almost unbelievable for a global company. A disgrace actually.

S... moreSame opinion here.
For me bigger is a con. I tried the Pixel 4a and Huawei Nova 5T side by side for several days. Though the Nova 5T is not really a big phone, it was so much more fun to use the Pixel 4a just because of the smaller size.
The Pixel 4a is not a loser for me, because it's the best small midrange android smartphone this year. The smartphones in the category are getting bigger and bigger. If you find a small midrange phone, then the battery life often sucks or the camera is bad or ... but the Pixel 4a is good to very good in every aspect.
Therefore the Pixel 4a is a winner for me.
Love the pixel 4a non 5g variant could not disagree more with this article.

The 5 was good evolution except for top speaker. I'll wait for the 6 Google should hopefully be using there own silicone and implement camera upgrades
Completely disagree with this here. The 4a was a winner by all standards, breaking the barrier on what a value phone could actually be. The hardware felt cheap, and the performance was mediocre at best, but for that price point, and the people that will be buying it, the screen to body ratio, the camera, the price, the battery, and the pure Google experience is more than worth it. Additionally, I have the Pixel 5, and the battery life alone makes it a winner vs. my Pixel 4 XL and even iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sure I wish it was a bit bigger and thicker so it was easier to hold and felt more premium, but it's no slouch in performance, the camera is awesome, the Google experience is top-notch, the Sage Green is an awesome color, and the price, if you can find it for $500 which I did, is a no brainer. The 4a 5G is the most pointless in the lineup and the biggest loser, just boasting a bigger frame then the 4a. I'll take the water resistance, bigger battery, and more RAM of the 5 all day long, not to mention something with some color. Realistically this article is trash.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 2021How is the 4A a loser? Are you out of your mind? That's one of the best phones of the year. If anything, the 4a 5g is the one I don't understand whatsoever haha 4a and 5 are both winners in my book
