Apple unveiled its updated iPad mini model, which brings the first OLED display to the mini line. Alongside the expected display upgrade, Apple outfitted the new mini model with its latest Apple A20 Pro chip, though there is a catch.
The 128GB and 256GB storage versions get a binned CPU featuring five CPU cores compared to six on the 512GB model. Per the specs page, the lower storage models are getting one less efficiency core and half the NPU power. The rest of the specs are identical.

The new mini is built around an 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 2,316 x 1,512px resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, Apple is still holding off on the ProMotion upgrade for its smallest iPad member.
The new panel boasts thinner bezels, up to 1,200 nits peak brightness and is configurable with an optional nano-texture glass for reduced glare. It supports both the Apple Pencil Pro and regular Apple Pencil (USB‑C) as well as a landscape 12MP Center Stage camera.
More interestingly, Apple moved the dual speakers under the display and is now using an “Acoustic Display” setup. It reportedly delivers punchier bass and more volume. The setup also includes custom tweeters which are “hidden” between the glass and aluminum enclosure for clearer highs.
iPad mini (2026) is 5.4mm thin and weighs 255 grams compared to 6.3mm and 297 grams of its predecessor. The new model gets upgraded Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) connectivity, while the cellular version also brings 5G (sub-6 GHz) thanks to eSIM and Apple’s C2 modem. Apple is also boasting IP67 ingress protection.
Elsewhere, the new mini brings an 18.9Wh battery which charges over USB-C. Apple claims you can reach a 50% charge in 30 minutes when using a 35W or higher power adapter. The port also transfers data at USB 3 speeds (up to 10Gb/s).
iPad mini (2026) comes in Midnight and Starlight colors.

Man who in the right mind buys a "Mini" for EUR 1.129 Better spend little extra and get iPad Pro or MacBook Air lol
60Hz doesn't matter I'm more concerned about the acoustic display. Nice vibrating display you got there I thought manufacturers avoid that
