Competition pushes Nokia into losses

Mobile phone company Nokia has reported a net loss of 929m euros ($1.2bn; £761m) in the first three months of 2012, following a profit warning earlier this month.
The loss compares with a profit of 344m euros in the same period of 2011.
Nokia warned on 11 April that it would make losses in the first two quarters.
The Finnish company said competition in the industry had led to lower sales, particularly in India, the Middle East, Africa and China.
The losses were worse than had been expected, even after the profits warning.
Nokia's Windows smartphones have been struggling to compete with competition from the likes of Apple and Samsung.
Nokia's chief executive Stephen Elop said he was pleased with the awards and acclaim for the company's Lumia devices, but added: "The actual sales results have been mixed."
"We have faced greater than expected competitive challenges," he added.
Mr Elop said that he would be trying to implement his new strategy more quickly.
He promised to announce extensive further cost-cutting measures soon.
The company also said it was restructuring its sales team and that Colin Giles, executive vice-president of sales, would be leaving the company at the end of June.
Nokia's net sales fell to 7.35bn euros in the quarter, down 29% from the same period last year.

Stop deceiving each other by something which is not there. if you want to see the power of Technology on Smartphone tune to HTC,Iphone and Samsung Galaxy s,s2,s3. you will definitely be amazed. N8 is good only on Camera & Battery apart from that is awful. nothing interesting on Ovi. make a research before buying a phone... people's opinion can mislead at times...

as a Nokia user since 2006, I can guarantee that N8 is the best device of calling a person can ever have.
ofcourse Nokia has been known for its call quality which you can't find in any other mobile.
with N8, you can have the same good quality of a mobile plus a great device for taking photos and videos.
for those who criticize the processor, N8 is still a mobile, if you want a better processor, go buy yourself an ipod.

No way samsung or any other phone camera better than N8. Some phones have better screens so the photos may look better than on the n8 screens. The N8 is great.

now its a year with my N8. First ANNA update and now BELLE its usability has lot improved. Its camera King amongst Smartphones. Though sometime I wish id had atleast 800Mhz processer and 512 RAM.

This N8 is a premier phone if you have Anna 25 software in it. I tried pre PR, PR 1.1, PR1.2, Anna 24, Anna 25, Belle and Delight Belle v5.2. It is only Anna 25 which gives you maximum satisfaction. It is excellent piece of hardware. With Anna 25 it is better than any 2nd generation phone. It is king. I upgraded to belle on 8 february. I suffered a lot but thanks nokia, again I am back to Anna 25.007 yesterday. However, if you know it is half an hour job to downgrade to anna. It was more than two months nightmare. Now I will never upgrade to belle, even feature pack comes out. First I will see, if it is better than anna, then only I will upgrade it. For new buyers I will suggest buy with Anna. Never ever buy with belle. Those who have not upgraded to belle. It is good, continue with anna. Those who upgraded belle and not happy, try navifirm it is less than 1 Mb. Then you can download any official software. Then Try phoenix cracked 2012 108mb (it will help to install anna on your phone). You will need winrar or .7z unzip software less than 1 mb to unzip software. Further, if you need help do write.

Here is what he said - "Nokia N... moreN8 is best, where as its price is very high to 18k to 19 k. the one and only drwback is its processor of 680 mhz which is less than other smart phones currently it is sufficient and better.
Second good thing is video calling which is not possible with android

What do nokia models like E7, C7, X7, N8, 701, 700 and the upcoming Nokia 808 pureview have ... morethey didnot overclock bcoz of battery issues!!! nokia first decided to keep 800 mhz for d above phones but they cancelled it... due to less battery!!

What do nokia models like E7, C7, X7, N8, 701, 700 and the upcoming Nokia 808 pureview have 1 thing in common? They all have 1 type of processor, ARM11. The Nokia 700, 701 and N808 pureview are clocked 1Ghz or higher. That means N8, E7, X7 and C7 can be clocked at 1 ghz or higher. I asked this question on my previous post: WHY NOKIA DID NOT CLOCKED N8, E7 and X7 at 1GHZ? If these models were clocked at 1ghz or higher, it would still beat, specs-wise and/or market-wise, the other smartphones released this 2012.

the only thing i don't like about android phones is the free map.
nokia is very intelligent to provide free maps with voice guided navigation to its user.
i could have chosen an android phone 4 months ago because of the vast availability of free software but i needed the free maps, and N8 has it plus the 12mp camera...
so i end up with my very satisfying nokia n8.
i hope the widgets for clock will be back as i really really like the design... i am refering to the clock with date and profile in ana version... please bring it back to belle
