The Nubia Red Magic 5G is shaping up to be a beast of a phone with a 144Hz refresh rate display, Snapdragon 865, dual-mode 5G and blazing fast 80W fast charging. Last week we saw a live demo of the phone’s new low latency wireless screencasting feature and now the brand’s president Ni Fei took to Weibo again to tease the new super fast charging of the upcoming gaming phone.

The photo shows a detailed charging log of the phone which indicates a current of 9.6 amps alongside a voltage of 8.4 equating to an 80W power flow. We also see the device will support the USB PD charging protocol. Unfortunately, there is not much more to work with here.

To put thins into perspective Oppo’s 65W SuperVOOC found in the Reno Ace is the current fast charging champion. Then there are Xiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo and Vivo’s 120W Super FlashCharge which were both teased but are yet to be commercially available.

All the fast charging tech above 30w produces most of the heat at the charging adapter, not at the phone. So less heat and thereby less detoriation of battery overtime.

That's all...good I guess but the elephant in the Nubia room hasn't been cleared since the first Red Magic: global software. The global ROMs still lack so many features (being more vanilla than even the Pixel phones) and they've yet to address any of...
