The new OxygenOS 16 is based on Android 16. While it hasn't changed much visually, it does have improved animations and some new tricks.
OxygenOS 16 on the Pad Go 2 offers a familiar look and feel to the company's smartphone UI, but it also comes with some big-screen enhancements. There's a taskbar/dock which houses six of your favorite apps alongside three recently opened apps, an app drawer and a files shortcut. You can tap and hold on any app in the dock and launch it in Split View mode or as a floating window.
The Pad Go 2 also features the Open Canvas multitasking system, allowing you to work conveniently in Split View. While more powerful OnePlus tablets offer up to three apps side by side, the Pad Go 2 is limited to two. You can have an additional pop-up window on top of the pair, as usual.
You can easily resize and switch apps from the three dots menu for a surprisingly nimble multitasking experience.
The other impressive software trick on the Pad Go 2 is the O+ Connect app. It allows you to connect to and remote control your Mac or Windows PC. The setup procedure is straightforward, as you simply download the O+ Connect app and install it on your computer. There's even a version for Intel Macs. Once set up, you can head to the Remote PC Control menu inside the settings app on the Pad Go 2 and pair the two devices.
Being a 2026 Android tablet, Pad Go 2 gets the OnePlus AI suite powered by Google Gemini. You'll find the usual slew of features, including Circle to Search, as well as translation, summary, writing, and speaker assistant.
There are some AI options as part of the Image Editor in the Gallery app, too - Recompose, Eraser, Portrait Glow, Detail Boost, Unblur, Reflection Eraser.
The optional OnePlus Stylo for Pad Go 2 is a great addition for jotting down notes, sketches and navigating the UI.
It supports various quick shortcuts - tap, swipe, hold the button - and you can assign custom actions to those.
The OnePlus Pad Go 2 employs the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset - a modern 4nm SoC. The CPU has 4x 2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 cores and 4x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores, while the GPU is the Mali-G615 MC2.
The Pad Go 2 is available in two configurations in Europe - Wi-Fi-only 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 5G-enabled 8GB RAM + 256GB storage (ours).
While the OnePlus Pad Go 2 processor performance jump isn't that large, the GPU gains are significant when compared to the first Pad Go.
AnTuTu tests paint the same picture with an almost doubled score since the Pad Go.
The sustained performance on the Pad Go 2 is great - there is virtually no throttling to be observed.
Overall, the Pad Go 2 offers adequate mid-range performance with no overheating or throttling. OxygenOS runs smoothly, as do most office apps and even games. Longer loading times are sometimes observed, but that's about it.
