Brilliant move by Sony especially in choosing not to call it a "mini". And the reviewer is right, when any phone has that moniker many a consumer tend to think it has less than the flagships. And I think 4.3 inches is actually quite a good size.
AnonD-214929, 09 Jan 2014Samsung already have mini versions since s3 time )) so samsung mad3 it first ))Sony made the first mini, neo, and active.
First on water proof flagship, first in making compact flagship. And helds the most compact and least bezel flagship called xperia ZL. Optimus gj and s4 active imitate Sony's lead. LG and Samsung are patent trolls. So, just be thankful that Sony is not as greed as Apple.

Higher price, lower display quality & uninteresting wallpaper. That are the reasons in my opinion.
AnonD-214929, 09 Jan 2014Samsung already have mini versions since s3 time )) so samsung mad3 it first ))Those mini are downgrades. Sony made a compact midsize version. I'm sure Samsung and LG are now scrambling to make a compact version of their own. Imitate and wrap in a cheap plastic.
too bad they stuck to this water proofness gimmick instead of doing what 99% of people prefer: smaller bezels...

Please let me know if you find something of interest!
This is a good lesson for Samsung as they release "mini" versions of their high-end devices... Follow Sony and keep all the aspects of the high-end device but encase it in a more compact shell...Unless that's not what the "mini" phones are about...?
Anonymous, 08 Jan 2014im just waiting for lg g2 mini before i choose...Im too waiting for lg g2 mini to choose my next phone
I have g2 now
The article says Lime and Yellow in the colors, but only shows Lime. Is there a Yellow version or not?
Anonymous, 08 Jan 2014im just waiting for lg g2 mini before i choose...OF course, when sony made waterproof flagship LG and samsung made their own version, and call it innovation.
Now sony made a compact version, LG and samsung will surely do the same and call it innovation.

First of all what's the differances between all 5 inch devices??Do u know?? Better specs, S/W, display, battery and camera.
It's not same display compact use IPS panel with perfect viewing engels, bettert color accuracy and it has triluminos display.
I want compact smartphone with almost NO bezel. This should already a perfect one but that huge useless bezel turned me down, such a waste of possible screen estate.

The XZ Compact is a "mini", or rather say "compact", of TODAY'S standards. NOT 3 years ago.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2014The ignorance and sheer idiocy on this blog is mind boggling! This phone has different display... morelol, you accuse of ignorance and then you talk about ips and tft as they're two distinct things.
Well, i've got a news for you: ips is a technology (amongst others such as va and tn) used to produce tft lcds.. thus ips lcds are just a subset of tft lcds, not something different.
