Anonymous, 17 May 2020i'm not an expert on wireless technology, so i have no idea how to have better insulation but ... moreI forgot to mention that my carrier does not support any of the 5G bands for Xperia 1II, but it does support both mmWave 5g bands on the Pro. mmWave 5G is deployed in the city north of me, but not in my city yet. So 5G is pretty useless for either phone, unless my carrier adds more bands, which I doubt will happen (anytime soon). So I was thinking the best way to have the fastest 4G speeds will be to maximize the reception quality.

Lol you are all arguing about Sony phone and am here just counting the comment leap which Sony fan is about breaking on gsm arena. (1900+) and counting. outstanding "go Sony go Sony 🕺🕺👯" ,lets make it 2000 comment lol at this rate gsm arena have got to get the SX1ii on release date .
So my own little contribution, see Sony is a great smart phone but they lack two things good price and camera, but one can always go for the other. say for example if I was to get a phone and the price was $1200,but the camera is top notch I wouldn't see it as a waste of money, that includes high res audio, phone durability, software updates, stereo speakers (latest/best cpu/gpu from SD)& headphone jack which of course sony delivers
but the camera puts off alot of Android users, with such average camera for $900-1100 now if sony had just good camera with a price point around $700 to $800 people will still love & buy the phone, though except people for useless design that isn't useful

If USB PD is ancient in fast charging, then why most companies have adopted this technology in their electronic devices for charging? USB PD itself can reach up to 100W (20V, 5A), mostly on laptops, and some very fast charging technology is based on USB PD. If it's ancient, Oppo would neglect the USB PD from their Find X2 Series and only relied on their SuperVOOC 2.0... Your statement is like saying headphone jack is ancient when some people prefer that way over the wireless headphones.

It was a harsh fall and I had my phone in two parts. I managed to connect the display and it worked fine for few days. Now it's display is completely dead. For so long, I never had a battery problem, This is lifetime! Sony did very well to maintain the battery life! Again, I guess you can disable the future and let your phone charge normally by disabling this in settings, maybe if you're in a hurry or something... All legends are dying since the Chinese manufacturers came up with numbers! When people will understand- How hard it is to write software or os to run in a minimum ram than adding ram, then only things would change!

Its qnovos code programmed into a co processor on the SoC, that does those calculations and manages charge sequencing.
Rest assured, longeivity of the battery(number of charge cycles) with that qnovo tech (BatterCare on new Xperias) is prolonged x3 fold.
It prevents charging temperature raise/overcharge, last 90-100% charge sequence is, lets call it "slow charge", there just to maintain battery health.
Furthermore, I noticed its AI actually charges the phone overall slower overnight than during the day.
You can leave it to go 100% as I do overnight, or unplug it when it reaches >90% if you dont care to wait, which, in fact is even better for the battery.
Of course, ignorant reviewers bashed it all around from the beginning, bcause its much slower to reach full 100% than all those fastcharge phones that reach 100% in half the time, but same reviewers never cared to research and explain why it is so in the first place, and to what benefit. Cudos to few exceptions.
I live the benefits of it on my phone every day for 3 yrs now, and can easily put shame on any of those ignorant "reviewers".

Lol this is the biggest loophole in your argument.
You are ignoring the fact that that temperature is never allowed to reach there in the first place. In other fast charging technologies,temperatures are only increasing by 3-4 degree during charging and using the phone.
How about you research beyond Qualcomm quick charge and USB PD.
IMO the Xperia 1 ii is very awesome! The weight is only 181.4g, you can find other flagship lighter like this.
If a phone with larger width and flat back and heavier like Samsung Ultra or LG V60, it must be very STRESSFUL to your palm and fingers.

As far as I can remember some Sony flagships also supported the same. The supplied Qualcomm QC 3.0 certified wall charger for my V30 is rated at 16.2 watts (9V, 1.8A) max and supports fast charging. What I was able to understand is QNI needs support from hardware and is not 100% software based. Snapdragon 835 was the first SoC that supported this tech at hardware level. So, charging using the supplied wall charger, QNI with the help of Snapdragon 835 measures & monitors the battery of my LG V30 for nearly 20,000 times on a single charge to deliver the optimum charging power load to the battery at any point of time. This ensures fast charging without the expense of sacrificing battery lifespan and ensures longevity. Would love to know your thoughts on this.
I also performed a battery charging test on my V30 after completely depleting the battery and using the supplied wall charger. Below are the results.
Wall Charger Rating:
5V x 1.8A = 9 watts
9V x 1.8A = 16.2 watts

0 to 90% -> 2970 mAh -> 68 mins -> 1 hr 8 mins
0 to 93% -> 3069 mAh -> 75 mins -> 1 hr 15 mins
0 to 97% -> 3201 mAh -> 90 mins -> 1 hr 30 mins
0 to 100% -> 3300 mAh -> 102 mins -> 1 hr 42 mins

the next logical step would be having better power efficiency and perhaps more energy dense battery so the other next-gen/high end parts could be more practical instead of just a gimmick

Do you guys think the dielectric constant material used in the Xperia Pro could increase the reception quality for the 4G bands? (by a significant amount?) Or is it only used to optimize the 5G reception quality. The flagships this year have a some next gen components. Such as LPDDR5 ram and 5g (LPDDR4 since 2014 on the 810) So I have a feeling that a 2020 flagship can easily last 4-5 years without feeling too slow. (also Moore's law curve is flattening out)
I'm sure the future phones will have better efficiency (processor and 5G modem) and an increase in battery capacity.
Would spending the extra couple hundred (if its actually $300 more) on a Pro be worth for the potential reception benefits? Or should I save my money and stick with the Xperia 1II?
I don't have a need for the HDMI input, but the design looks a bit more durable and I think it looks nice.
