Tecno Camon 40 Premier review

Verdict

Just like the Tecno Camon 40 Pro, the Camon 40 Premier is only available in a few select markets. Additionally, the device's price tag varies significantly from market to market, which makes it challenging for us to identify direct competitors.

Still, the Camon 40 Premier is a phone that's fairly easy to recommend. It rides on the success of its predecessor and even improves upon it in key areas such as camera performance. In fact, the Camon 40 Premier's camera system punches way above its weight class, delivering excellent stills and videos, leaving little to complain about. Still, we wish it had better video stabilization and better quality 2x crop zoom photos.

Performance seems more than adequate for the price class, and so is the charging speed. It matches or even outpaces most of its competitors.

The fresh design and lightweight build, the convenient One-Tap Button on the side and the high ingress protection tie the whole package together.

Unfortunately, the display lacks brightness boost and granular refresh rate control, completely eliminating the advantages of using an alleged LTPO OLED panel. This is likely part of the reason why battery life isn't particularly impressive.

Nevertheless, the Camon 40 Premier is easy to recommend as it's a good all-rounder with special attention to photography.
