The Xiaomi 15T Pro has a design language similar to the 14T Pro and 13T Pro, but opts for flat front and back panels and brings a minor redesign of the square camera housing. It retains the aluminum frame and while the IP68-rating is unchanged the submersion depth has been increased to 3m for 30 minutes.
The front panel is Gorilla Glass 7i, a step-up from the Gorilla Glass 5 on the 14T Pro with improved shatter proofing. The back is made of fiber glass material for even better drop resistance. The aluminum frame is reinforced to achieved 330 N/mm rigidity, up from 260 N/mm on the 14T Pro.
The frame and the back have matching matte finish, which repels fingerprints and smudges. There is a tiny shiny chamfer on all side buttons and more pronounced one on the camera housing. These subtle accents are all glossy and overall give a cool premium look.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro goes without camera rings - all lenses are flush with the camera island and there are no sticking bits. We surely prefer this to the old look, but we just hope Xiaomi has accounted for this and made its front lens elements tough enough to prevent scratches from appearing.
Xiaomi 15T Pro in: Black • Gray • Mocha Gold
The Xiaomi 15T Pro is available in three colors. We have Mocha Gold, which is arguably the most interesting paintjob with its not too dark and nor too flashy look. The Black and Gray options are certainly less intriguing.
The front is where you will find the large 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with 1280p resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. It has super thin bezels at just 1.5mm and they are even all around.
The earpiece is above the screen, and it also acts as the second speaker in the stereo setup. While there is an ambient-light sensor hidden around here, there is no proximity one. The virtual proximity technology on the 15T Pro has been drastically improved and works almost as well a real sensor. Still, when we tried to we did manage to fool it on a couple of occasions by playing with the phone's angle and the ambient light.
There is an optical fingerprint scanner under the screen, which is pretty fast and reliable.
The back has a square camera island with four prominent black circles. The top row has the primary and ultrawide cameras, with a pinhole for a microphone next to them. At the bottom is the telephoto lens and the final circle has the color spectrum sensor and the IR blaster.
Outside the camera island is the dual-LED flash.
The frame is quite nice its color and finish matching the back. It has nothing of interest on the top and the left sides.
The right side has the volume and lock keys.
The bottom has the dual-SIM tray, the primary microphone, the USB-C port, and the other speaker.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro measures 162.7 x 77.9 x 8 mm and weighs 210 grams - that's 2mm taller and 2mm wider than the 14T Pro, which is pretty minor considering the 0.15" larger screen.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro is a well-built phone with an easily likable design and solid ingress protection. The overall grip is good, though the matte back is quite slippery and many will probably prefer to use the bundled case. We sure did. You will lose the nice color but get the much-needed grip boost.
