Huawei and Samsung are in a competition to release the first foldable smartphone and Huawei’s Ken Hu just upped the ante – Huawei’s first foldable phone will also be its first 5G-capable phone.
And it will arrive earlier than expected with a mid-2019 launch (at a previous event Huawei promised its first 5G phone for the second half of 2019). Sub-brand Honor also has a 5G phone in the works.
Anyway, Hu highlighted the three major use cases for 5G: faster mobile broadband, lower latency and the Internet of Things.
Samsung’s CEO confirmed that a foldable phone will launch before the end of the year. The company also unveiled a 5G modem modem, which should also reach consumers by the end of the year (though it’s not clear if the foldable phone will be 5G-enabled or if they will be separate products).
Well Samsung foldable can end as Note 7 series. They ignore all criteria just make and done. Instead of Huawei which will do a lots of testing before final release.
