Mi Band 4 NFC hits Ukraine and Belarus as EU availability nears

Ro 24 September 2020

Xiaomi Smart wearables

Xiaomi's Mi Band 4 debuted last year but it's only now that Xiaomi is launching the NFC-enabled version outside of China. It's not a proper global launch, but two more European countries - Belarus and Ukraine are following Russia, which got it in June.

Mi Band 4 NFC can now be found in Ukraine and Belarus too

Xiaomi has collaborated with Mastercard to enable contactless payments using the NFC chip so a number of Belarusian and Ukrainian banks now offer the service. You still have to be a Mastercard holder, though.

There's no word on when and if the Mi Band 4 NFC will make it outside those countries but the Mastercard partnership clearly points towards a broader European launch. Hopefully the Mi Band 5 NFC will also be a part of that, instead of leaving its predecessor to take all the glory.

Your lucky they even take Mastercard. Normally China product pushes their own payment system which most people can't apply for (Unionpay cards, Alipay e-wallet and WeChat Pay e-wallet). Or if they do take Visa/MC you get conned with a DDC scam o...
