Microsoft has started sending out press invites for an event taking place on October 26 in New York City. For a long time the company's been rumored to make some new hardware announcements at some point this month, so now we have the actual date to speak of.

To top things off, Microsoft may start selling standalone Surface-branded peripherals - such a mouse and keyboard have been certified by the FCC not long ago.
Xbox-related news may be in for that day too, along with some details about the next two big Windows 10 updates, which should both arrive next year.
