chester, 31 Jan 2011hi bro, So u say they chose 2 go with Intel SoC,hope they modified it. Do u know anythin... moreLOl so symbian just got owned in over all sales by Android. Guess you fanboys can't use that over all sales crap anymore huh? No one cares about dumb phones sales, everyone who visits gsmarena, bgr, intomobile are only looking at one thing and one thing only. Smartphones, even at smartphones Nokia is a fail because their profits slips and slips every quarter.
chester, 31 Jan 2011hi bro, So u say they chose 2 go with Intel SoC,hope they modified it. Do u know anythin... moreNot much but i hear it may be 1.2ghz and possibly dual core. All i know it is either one of those two or a combination of both. I wish i knew more but nokia are keeping it under wraps and moreso than ever. I wonder if it is going to be a game changing device and hence would love the element of surprise at mwc when launched. I hear anything new, i'll post either here or on the n8 forum.
[deleted post]hi bro,
So u say they chose 2 go with Intel SoC,hope they modified it.
Do u know anything about it's performance?
Hope they announce this n9 at the MWC.
Mauritango, 31 Jan 2011Actually, with ovi maps you have the option of downloading the maps of a country/city and use ... moreGuys you just do not get it! Try this on Ovi maps: Get Luxembourg map on your Nokia. Set the maps to offline, and do not accept internet connection if asked. Now search for Hilton Hotel Louxembourg or Jean Engling street. You get nothing, I assure you.
chester, 31 Jan 2011hi buddy have u heard rumours of the next iphone5 having a quad-core processor & GPU si... moreBtw, did you hear that nokia pulled out the meego ui from developers. They stated that they are nnt allowing further developement to continue on the ui cos they are finalising it for release as version 1.2. They are also polishing it up and are not going to disclose it to the developers for a while because they dont want anyone to see the ui prior to official release date. Sounds like we have an official new ui to launch at the mwc...maybe in the n9!! They have been really open with meego with everything regarding prior releases but this time around they are very hush! I hear that there is even a new ui based on qt for the n8. Sounds good. Cant wait for that. Btw, they also based the meego ui around utilising the intel soc and all bug fixes right until they pulled the ui out for finalising have been based around the intel chip! I hope it has been optimised or modified for better efficiency. Im sure intel have cooked up a storm behind the scene with nobody knowing! Just a hunch;)
chester, 31 Jan 2011hi buddy have u heard rumours of the next iphone5 having a quad-core processor & GPU si... moreHey bro. I replied to your post much earlier but it seems it never saved!? Anyway, what said in that post was that i did hear about the quad cores they want to place in the iphone 5 but i believe it is planned for much later in the year. I actually cant believe apple would release a quad core phone and skip the dual cores altogether!? To me i'd say they'd go with a dual core in the iP5 and they plan to release another phone altogether as an addition to their iphone lineup. They are considering that and maybe as a rival to the gaming devices. Apple wont just jump to quad cos it doesnt make sense as people would buy the new version when released with dual cores. Why lose out the sales. People would still rush out to get the new version with quad cores nevertheless even though they release that after a few months. As a marketing strategy and from a sales point of view they may do just that. That is why they are in business i.e. Make a profit and maximise sales windows for a financial year. Releasing 2 phones would reap huge profits and the fact that they have loyal followers they can definitely push out more phones than the previous year. Just my thoughts and i could be wrong here. They'd want to do the samsung thing and release a newer version just to increase sales margins. Worked for samsung wonderfully btw by holding back some new tech for an updated version of a product line.
Nokia has just good hardware and battery life, where android os is avilable also for small company like spice, videocon, any way i used s60v2,3 and now e72, but i think android is much bettar than symbian
Megalord, 31 Jan 2011If you have used google maps, you might finally realize why its prefered over the ovi maps. As... moreWith symbian...i have both the options availible..!!
Google maps for symbian..!!
But no ovi maps for android(obviously!)
and some one said about barcode readers and buissness card readers not availible in ovi store..!!
Just search them on google......there are tons of symbian apps..!!
Anonymous, 31 Jan 2011About that free lifetime navigation:
In Ovi maps you can find an address only in online mode.... moreActually, with ovi maps you have the option of downloading the maps of a country/city and use the gps offline (including voice guided navigation), an that´s the main advantage over gooogle maps. Google maps has also advantages over ovi(maps are better, worldwide coverage), but if I´m travelling abroad (which happens to be my case), I have to rely on ovi maps because of it´s offline mode, which works flawlessly by the way.
Anyway, I think HTC also has an offline gps app in its top of the line androids.
As final words I must say that I really like Symbian 3 (very responsive, no hangs, no lags), I have used Android and IOS before, and I don´t like flat menus, haven´t tried Wp7 though.
pul, 31 Jan 2011Well....if u browse web a lot....then u must be knowing about opera mobile, skyfire, bolt, uc ... moreIf you have used google maps, you might finally realize why its prefered over the ovi maps. As for camera... The more you should get optical zoom camera cams, since it can't be upg
@ I love to argue
Seems they don't need it to get attention.
jayrtom, 31 Jan 2011I have a C7 with 8mpx fixed focus. It's common to say that this fixed focus is a very bad thin... moreOK, take pictures of a business card and of a A4 sheet with text, crop and put them on the imageshack, and give us the link. Will see how good they are.
jayrtom, 31 Jan 2011It's not true! You can find an adress in offline mode also (after you hav synchronized de maps... moreCare to explain how? I tried to find a street on which I was, in offline mode, and it did not find it.
[deleted post]It was just a question of time. Android is just awesome! :)
I love to argue, 31 Jan 2011Symbian doesnt match Android or iOS appstore in quality or quantity.I said, give it time.
we will see.

ANDROID vs SYMBAIN Q4 2010
Anonymous, 31 Jan 2011About that "better camera":
Can anyone take a picture of an object (tidy framed A4 ... moreI have a C7 with 8mpx fixed focus. It's common to say that this fixed focus is a very bad thing but I must say I don't agree with it! It has several advantages over a 5mpx autofocus (the common this days). First of all it is extreamly fast to take a snapshot of anything, the hd video is very very good! you may say the fact it doesn't have autofocus doesn't allow to take a macro photo but, unless you want to take a photo of an eye of a fly, it it can do it to! If you want to take a photo os a card, or a newspaper add or anything to grab the letters, just take a photo from a relative distance and the crop it... you'll be surprised that it works perfctly well because you have an 8mpx resolution! In fact I say that a phone is not a camera! You can by a very good camera with optical zoom and 14mpx resolution for little money if you're into photos... but for the use I give to a camera's phone (I by all means I uset it a lot!) this is superb!!
Offcourse the N8 camera is much better but I prefered to spent much less money in the C7 which only misses that
