A sad day for music lovers. Removal of headphone jack from Sony phones is unacceptable, since they are a major player in music and audio industry. I simply cannot believe while they are making the 4.4mm balance connector a standard, they are moving away from 3.5mm standard. I am 100% sure this dongle will cost more in money and desirability of Sony mobile phones in the future. I curse Apple for starting a bad trend just to earn more money from us users.
If an OEM is gonna remove the 3.5mm jack, they should provide two USB Type C ports along with a USB Type C to 3.5mm jack adapter or bundle a set of bluetooth earphones with replaceable batteries in the packaging. Then I'm fine with the removal of the legendary 3.5mm jack. Just kidding. Don't do this Sony! Don't be a follower of the eaten fruit company.
AnonD-265341, 22 Jan 2018Please let it be false, do not remove the hpj. I really hope, and think they wont, they ll just replace it with the better 4.4 mm balanced sound one....
Standard 3.5 mm goes to USB dongle, so people can use their existing headphones
They are already using 4.4 ones for 2 years on hi res Walkman products.
Sony CEO explicitly implied 4.4 mm one coming to premium phones it last year at CES.
AnonD-607239, 22 Jan 2018Whatever Sony does, people with no product experience will attack it.LOL "product experience"? Why do i have to own a phone with no 3.5mm to know it's total bull?
Typical fan-boy
Whatever Sony does, people with no product experience will attack it.
AnonD-1825, 22 Jan 2018IPhone sales drop? Losing Headphone jack have had zero or very minimal impact for iPhone sales.Last year yes, but this year..
well, people experienced the nonsens in removing it on last year iphones, so this year they just aint buying ....much much lower sales for apple.
Htc also removed it...got worst results in more than a decade.
People are speaking through not giving money for jackless nonsens any more.
Please let it be false, do not remove the hpj.

If it's a trade-off for a revolutionary design, I'm fine with it. If not, Sony have shot themselves in the foot.
Anonymous, 22 Jan 2018The only 2018 flagship that will have headphone jack is the Oneplus 6, and probably some sony ... more wanna bet?

If you wanna lose some of your fans just remove headphone jack and a year later your smartphone sales will drop just like apple did
Im an x sony fan but i kinda give sony a chance BUT when i saw this "Sony Xperia with no headphone jack spotted in FCC documents" hmmm its a huge dissapointment
Im already using bluetooth headphones on my galaxy j7 prime for months and bluetooth and wired have cons and pros. In wired connection you just have to plug it in your earphone/headphone and thats it your music is already playing in your earphones but when you are a commuter having a wire running tru your shirt is kinda disturbing wires can get caught on to something.
In bluetooth headphones you have to turn on the bluetooth on your phone and on your bluetooth headphone then you have to select the device that youre going to use and when you run out of bettery you have to charge your bluetooth headphones theres alot of steps
3.5 should always included you have the option to enjoy music with or without wire
