I received my N8 on 30th October. I already owned a Nokia E71. The hype built on websites including GSM Arena and numerous other websites made me buy the new phone.
First of all GSM Arena should verify the specifications before posting on the website. The standy time of 390 hours is totally false. After using the power saving mode, disabling all the widgets, I could get maximum of one and a half day. I question myself .... did I pay hell lot of money for buying a phone equivalent to Nokia 3310 (BTW 3310 will always remain a superb phone; my point of reference is whether I spent that kind of money for a basic phone???)
Last night was the limit. I charged the phone fully at midnight and when I woke up in the morning, the phone battery was already dead. Upon reaching my office, I charged it again fully ... and then went to a meeting. During the meeting, I had to make a call, and guess what ... the battery was dead again. This is so heart breaking.
After the office hours, I went to Nokia Care Islamabad ... very courteous people ... I had to wait for more than three hours sitting there ... while the technician frantically tried to save my contacts to OVI website ... he failed. After the failure, he installed the software again ... and handed me the phone while it was still formatting the 32 GB card. It has been 5 hours and the card is about 75% formatted.
I really feel like suing Nokia for having betrayed their loyal customers. I am not sure whether the software reinstallation will solve the battery issue. The nice guys at the Nokia Care were kind enough to advise me not to use any online features!!! What a shame!!!!
Nokia Disucssion forums are full of negative comments about this phone ... I posted my experience, and after a few minutes, received a PM from one of the moderators that I should not write negative comments .. this is copy of what I received from Nokia moderator ... "Advice to not to buy Nokia products is unconstructive and unhelpful contribution to users. If all you want to do is express your dissatisfaction with your Nokia, we suggest that you use the 'Contact us' link at the top of the page or contact your local Nokia Care line.
Kind regards"
I am very very disappointed

Ever heard of James Dyson.
let's not forget it is principally a phone.
here's an idea why don't you wait and wait and wait until the perfect phone comes along then...
well this phone sucks! Bought this phone two weeks back .. Phone freezes some times .. No option to remove the battery and no reset button like windows smart phones... If phone get hanged we should take it to service centre . This make very much annoying..!
I am using N8 for one month. Excellent phone and real VFM.Only few improvements can make it No.1.
1.Portrait QWERT typing.
2.Functional speed dial( presently it restarts)
3.Better Browser
4.Better responsive camera interphase.
5.Better file manager (X-plore does not work on it)
If any one can suggest solutions before NOKIA please write.
And belive me there is no perfect phone. If one has better camera ,other has better applications but 5MP camera with no flash, third brand is made for people with same DNA(apple).
Thanks
Nokia N8 is the best
Anonymous, 06 Dec 2010Kindly somebody reply this question.
Is it not a problem if battery is not removable?
And al... moreHi, In N8 battery is sealed and its not a problem at all since there is a hard reset available in N8. If at all u want to change the battery u can change it from Nokia Care by simply unscrewing the two screws at the sides.
There is no software to turn on flash light continuously. Moreover turning on the flash light continuously will not be possible since its not LED type flash.
AM N8 owner right from 25th october and am very much happy with my purchase.
3-4 days battery life,
1.) Activate the power saver mode
2.) offline the widget, off wifi, bluetooth
3.) SWYPE if you are not use anytime just closed, go application click SWYPE click NO-NO after, just turn in off and on again the phone. if you want back your swype click yes-yes and restart the phone...
Goodnites...
Kindly somebody reply this question.

I usually get a new handset every 6 months and I might try the N8 when they roll out the major update in February then upgrade to a MeeGo device.

awful handest! i work for a major phone retailer and am fed up of the amount of issues with the phone! when are nokia going to sort there software out!!!
Nokia N8 latest price in India 22,800!
Up until a few days ago, I was bashing the N8 and I was a fandroid. Then I read Nokia's plan for 2011 and it all got me excited with the promise of Meego. Android is too geeky for my taste and after having experienced the X10 and Galaxy S Captivate, I am done with it. The updates from Samsung and Sony are slow enough to begin with and add the carrier customizations and it will take months before it reaches the end user.
I think my next phone will be a Nokia. I'm holding for the next MeeGo- powered N series. Anyone knows when they are going to preview the next N series hardware?
Is it not a problem if battery is not removable?
And also is there any application to turn on the flash light continuously?
