Sony Ericsson W810 review: Walkman on the EDGE

Sony Ericsson W810 review: Walkman on the EDGE - read the full textA few months after launching its new W810 model, Sony Ericsson delivered it to our office. This black twin of the famous W800 model features EDGE and the main menu has undergone slight modifications. All other applications have remained untouched. The new W810 is much more about color emotions, sport spirit, and launching novelties at all costs.

I've had this phone for approx. 3 weeks now..

and here are the dissatisfiers (sorry i couldnt be bothered listing the satisfiers)

KEY DISSATISFIERS:

difficult to take out battery, EXTREMELY difficult to take out the sim card (it's locked in once you insert, still possible to remove)

you cannot turn off shutter noises when taking pictures.

camera lag and shutter lag

MODERATE DISSATISFIERS:

there is no flash in camera mode, only a light option

the buttons are very very closely packed together i.e. increased rate of wrong keys pressed

the screen is slightly prone to visible fingerprints.

the keys are hard to adjust to (they are all backwards and mixed around compared to other brand models)

LOW LEVEL DISSATISFIERS:

there is no 'greeting message'

there arent enough games already on the phone

only 2 available key/button tones

can't run games while on a phone call (what a bummer)

battery capacity isn't very large (this phone is meant for strong use i.e. mp3 player)

I personally dislike the calculator layout

and that about sums it up. the dissatisfiers are heavily outweighed though, by the pure sexiness and style once accustomed, the usage is very swift, very feature packed and the screen size often turns me on ;)

overall i give it a 9.2/10

had sony phones for 3 years now and every one i get is better than the last by a long way.
the display on the w810 appears to be a lot better than the k750 and w800 and the night shot function on the camera is miles better, there is a lot less noise on the picture.
had mine for 3 months and i'm incredibly happy. all in its a better all round package than the n91 which is far heavier and much more expensive.

well firstly, i'm sure there are better answers than plainly 'you shouldnt buy this because this or that is coming out'
secondly, i'm getting it and if no one else does i'm still pleased. maybe even more so.

It looks cool. 2 bad it's old in the functions section. N73 & K800i are coming, no sense in buying this...
