Also forgot to mention, symbian 9.5 is going to be launched next week if this is going to influence any buys. However one should know that both nokia and sony have ported most of these features to their high end phones.
The new OS will allow
Better battery managemnt. - The p1i has great battery life as long as you don't use the 3g too much. However better battery management is always a good thing ;)
Wi-Fi 3G roaming
Push-email and VoIP run over WiFi when in the office and automatically switch to 3G when on the move. - The p1i has something similiar where it will by default try and use wifi before switching to the next preferred internet connection. I'm not sure how this works on nokia phones right now.
real-time networking ensures that VoIP is not interrupted when other IP-based services, such as web browsing or push email, make a connection. - I haven't tested this out, but my different internet apps don't conflict with each other when I do connect online.
The camera features would now include image orientation, image distortion correction auto-focus such as red-eye reduction. - The p1i image editor has these features and the camera has very good auto-focus.
The system will have better connectivity with home computers, via wireless and The new OS upgrade supports multi-standard digital TV
-This is something that I wouldn't mind in any phone, but I've got a decent setup on my phone. I have MyTunesRSS to stream music from itunes, I have an FTP application to use the phone as an ftp device for wireless access. I have a program to see and use my computer desktop from anywhere as long as Im connected to the net. And finally there is a program comming out soon to make the p1i show up as a networked computer as well.

At the questions below me, especially regarding sat-nav:
There are several solutions for satnav. The main ones are wayfinder, wisepilot and tom-tom.These involve you using an external GPS receiver to communicate with the phone over bluetooth. Of course it is not as elegant as the n95s integrated solution, but you can just ditch the receiver somewhere since the connection is wireless.
However these will give a better service than what the n95 comes with.
Depending on where you buy the phone from, you will get wayfinder or tom-tom with it. I think this mostly applies to the european stores though.
Regarding speed, the p1i is fast. Not blazingly fast, but apps take a second to start at the most. Of course if they are running in the background, they will start much quicker. This is another thing that I love about the phone. It has a very large amount of free RAM at all times. I can have many many applications(gone upto 20 since i dont use more) open in the background without a slowdown or memory errors.
I have never experienced this on any phone and I would never dream running so many applications.
As for the 'p3i', it is a rumor. Nothing more. The p1i has just launched and sony would cannabalize their sales by launching anything new, especially since most every user is satisfied with the p1i.
Also, simply just talking about the style of the phone. My friends are very critical when it comes to looks and they all have loved the looks of this phone. This includes my friend who has an n95. WHile the phones can't be directly compared (A business phone vs a media phone), realistically the only real choice is what you plan to use this for. If you want a great business phone at a great value, the p1i is your best bet.
If you want a phone for music and photos, the n95 is marginally better. Its just preference

DagMX...really enjoy all your comments and valuable feedbacks. Perhaps you can assist me on my search if by any chance we can utilise our P1i as a Sat Nav device since you did mentioned in one of your comments that it works better than the N95. Thanks in advance.

Dear Usamah..I had this phone for almost a month already & I consider myself as a heavy user. So far I'm very satisfy with the performance, not even once it hangs or give me problems. The only thing that you need to know is to excess contacts from composing a message is a bit slow; about 2-3 secs. Overall I'm very happy with this piece.

pedro manugitot:
Yeah is true. P1 is M600 succesor. P3 is P990 succesor, and will be announced in November-December. Some specs it should have:
5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash
GPS
VGA screen (maybe BRABIA branded)
VGA video recording
Wi-fi
Touchscreen

frankly, the best phone I tryed for ages.
everything is included. One issues that they should fixe...the camera's sensor. Even if it's 3.2 millions, you can see that it s lowquality pics....but anyway, the phone is for calling...
really nice music player ;-)

If P1 is not a successor of P990i, SE should announce P990i successor next month at the latest. I really wanted to replace my P990i to its successor. P990i was announced I think mid-2005 and was available only around August or September 2006. It's been 2 years already but still no successor for P990i. I just hope annoucement no later than October this year.

I use WLAN frequently.
To set up, just click the top-left icon, into connections, into Wireless LAN, Scan, Enter Key, and Connect.
I find its web-browsing via WLAN faster than O2 XDA Exec.
Only that my laptop can catch signals farther away from the router than this can do. Weird. But perhaps my laptop is several times bigger lol.

I've had a P1i for 20 days, and not had a problem yet. Yeah the keypad is a bit awkward, but I prefer using the handwriting recognition (that takes a bit of getting used-to). I tried its sound quality with Stereophones, and its as good as my previous W800i, only more versatile equaliser selections.
It's all good, except when it froze on me, when I tried closing down the O2 GPRS connection. For some reason that doesn't happen as neatly as it should. Restarting solved the problem, anyway.
Good all-round phone.
