Samsung hardware + Sony software will be a perfect combination.

There's a big flaw in your in statement!
I wonder if how many smaller companies had problems with phones on the scale of Samsungs would simply collapse or go bankrupt? Once bankrupt you get no refund or compensation! You are left with a big hole in your pocket and a lump of useless components in your hand!
Brand loyalty gives you brand protection and they care about there image and name and so there customer care should* be the best. Otherwise people leave that brand behind.
Thats why people go for brand :-)

As for the Note series or name being discontinued I probably doubt it, Samsung have brought there phone series numbering in-line with Apples so as to be direct competition methinks. Hopefully by the end of next year I shall have an S8 or Edge 8 and a Note 8.
Thanks for your replies.
As for the P9 another poster suggested I'm always a bit wary putting my foot into the unknown. I shall see reviews from all the other users and may get one if it turns out to be good.
why don't they make a research about how many non Samsung buyers shall buy it/
I guess survey did not include all Samsung owners only. Most N7 users are gettinh S7E and those with others phone will quit? I do not think so... Galaxy X will bring Samsung back to top again..

would have waited for note 8 but I need to replace my current phone as the battery is most definitely out of life.it dies within minutes of taking out of charge,so im gonna ho with iphone 7 plus and will treat myself with a note 8(or whatever Samsung decides to name it)next year

But this is Samsung, we're talking about, their name won't be damaged as a whole because of the Note7. They'll make great phones again. And you're also talking like no other Android OEM's make high-end phones, which is also wrong
I was a samsung owner but now will never buy one anymore since the last time I got my hands on it. I felt like being fooled because their product is just a midranger sold in high end price that's all a bullcrap. Now I won't be blinded by their so called big name or whatever because to me, Samsung is not that great despite the high price they put it's just high price with no quality whatsoever
Now the LG has outs an interesting phone, I had my eye on V20 seems legit

They are not tr... moreyou just described 98% of all customers, yes people buy phones to call, text and browse web and since most of them are not geeks they don't spend days reading reviews and just get whatever is most popular at the time. it was always like that and I don't think its going to change anytime soon. and its completely normal.
Although not a samsung owner this is simply not truth. It's the kind of survey that said 50% of note 7 owners will turn to the iphone 7 plus. In fact 90% got a s7 so no-note7 owners have even less of a reason to turn elsewhere.
Every time I change my phone I buy the best , most value for money phone available despite the brand. Brand loyalty is for brain dead sheep.
Wow, 40% of 188 people, they're just going to lose under 80 customers.

The fall of Samsung is the greatest thing to happen in the phone industry for years. Think about it - before it was just Apple and Samsung mopping up the premium market, and Samsung the rest. Every other maker had a tiny tiny portion of sales.
With Samsung badly going down, it means, yes Apple monopolising the premium market - but mid and low range cost phones will be open to everyone else. That means greater competition.
Yea, i'm the one who will get pixel

Those who are changing to iphone 7 and Google pixel are just trend followers.. They are not true smartphone power user.. They will buy whatever that is fad at the moment.. They probably don't even know much of the smartphones function apart from texting and calling and social.. They are like leaves who follow whatever direction the wind blows.. They only bought the devices just to gain acceptance among their peers
