sorry for my english. The music player should include an option who allow you to make a play list directly from a folder. otherwise, in the normal way, you`ll have to navigate and select one by one the music files you whant to include on the play list. If you have hundreds of files, it turns booring.
Another uncomfortable issue it´s the fact that the music player displays on the main list, ALL the media files on the memory, include ringotes and videos, even if you stored them on the specifics folders. So if you whant to do a play list, you`re force to navigate all the media content again, in order to exclude those files.

I had one yesterday. USB trasfer speed surprised me. wlan too. The phone feels solid and it look`s good. It`s a little heavy, but the handling experience it`s better than the n95. I miss the native 3d accelerator. The battery lacks feels only on hard multimedia use (video). The two leds flash it`s almost good as on sony`s K series, but the quality perception on the photos it`s better. There is no need to increase the ringtone volumme to the top, You`ll hear it everywhere. Recommended.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970You want to see bashing, go check out the iPhone or any non-Nokia that is perceived to be a threat to the Nokia fan-bois..

The voting system is ridiculously skewed.

e.g. How can people vote on the performance of a phone which hasn't been released (5800)?.

          Including the N95 8GB, which it's replacing.

Has it advanced enough or do Nokia need a bit of prodding to come up with a better effort?

Yes, the open symbian project is an open source thing, however, it is nokia that will be spearheading it. Thats why they have invested so much into buying the rest of the symbian shares.
Anyway, this isnt the place to advertise the innov8. I thought this forum was for discussing the n96 and how to help those who need help. Instead there's war from those who prefer other solutions. I think it would be best for others to stick to their own forums.

My comments were more directed at those who go on about Samsung taking Nokia's OS (i.e. Symbian).

I dumped my N82 for an iPhone and couldn't be happier, now it's a paperweight or my kid's play with it.

Actually, INNOV8 is the worthy upgrade from N95. Much more worthy than N96. If you want to experience true high end features, get the Innov8. Because there is no real difference between N95 and N96 only 16gb memory. N96 is overpriced. Innov8 is justly priced for its high end features, 8mp camera w/ autofocus & lens cover, VGA video @30fps, QVGA video @120fps, USB charging, 2.8" display, Symbian 9.3 S60 3rd FP2, 3.5mm jack, stereo speakers, DNse 2.0 surround sound, GPS, WIFI, HSDPA, 128MB SDRAM, 16GB internal memory, 450Mhz processor, 3d graphics accelerator, optical mouse. Innov8 has more and better things to offer than N96. So N96 is the one which is pointless here.
To the person who said that there is no need to upgrade to 8mp if you already have 5mp, well that's a matter of personal choice. I guess N82 will be ur phone forever. There are even a lot of people here upgrading from 5mp camera phone to another 5mp camera phone like those N95 users shifting to N96 or N85. And what do they'll get? Nothing much but 16gb, dvb-h or oled display. There are even people who want to upgrade from 5mp to 3.2mp phone like those N95 to 5800 only for touchscreen. But the most worthy upgrade of all is 5mp to 8mp, like from N95 or N82 to INNOV8 since there really are upgrades that take place here and the things I've mentioned above are just some of them. Nokia will release their 8MP camera phone and a lot of people will surely upgrade their phones to that, but that will still be next year. While Innov8 is already right here, right now. It's the most complete S60 smartphone right now.

About the megapixel race, even when nokia release their 8mp monster, the megapixels alone wont be a reason to upgrade from 5mp. Dont think we are being biased against other brands. Why should an n82 user change and go for a nokia handset with 8mp? The n82 is already perfect. What will the bigger pictures do for you? All the hype about 8mp is over-rated.

Anonymous, 31 Oct 2008No. I do not think the creation of i8510 is pointless. Im just saying its not as perfect as so... moreSymbian is not Nokia, Nokia uses it but they do not have the exclusive right to it.

They contributed to it's development along with a lot of other organizations.

i450, i560 are ore Samsung Symbian phones.

Ericsson and SonyEricsson produced a lot of Symbian phones P800, P900, P910 etc, in fact the Ericsson R380 was the first ever Symbian phone it also had a touchscreen and that was 8 years ago.

It's funny watching the Nokia fanboi's backpedal after telling us for ages about the superior camera's, blah, blah, blah etc, etc.

Well guess what, Nokia have fallen behind again and all of a sudden the camera Megapixel's are no longer important, yeah right.

Im just saying its not as perfect as some people claim it to be. Secondly, im not being biased. I also expected a bit more from the n96 and you will never hear me call it the n95 or n95 8gb successor. Its good to see samsung bringing out good phones that give good competiton. Their production of s60 handsets has dramatically changed over the years and i think that is good. Phones like i8510, n95, n95 8gb, n96 is not even my taste. I like buying phones which have real value for money. Not all in one devices that are overhyped. So phones like n82 or n79 or even phones outside the n-series family like 5800xm are what would appeal to me. I focus more on how a handset performs in relation to its features. I (like most people) do not need hardware that has a 3d graphics accelerator, a 5mp or 8mp snapper (but still wouldn't mind a good camera), or even GPS. At the same time, we would like some serious software to go with the phone. This is why i like choosing nokia. Because s60 is the most reliable platform in the market. If i was to go for s60 handsets by other manufacturers, there would be some restrictions as opposed to the nokia handsets because nokia=symbian s60.
And by the way, samsungs phone market share is at the moment (3rd quarter 2008) 16 percent. Nokia's is more than twice that amount.

The i8510 doesn't have one and it uses the 1200mah battery. Both have comparable battery lives. Can you imagine how n96 would perform if it had the same battery as the i8510?
The freescale is one of the best as it saves power and offers a lag-free OS. There is nothing wrong with it. Even though it does not have a 3D graphics accelerator, the ones used in the phones such as n95 8gb, n95 and i8510 have not been utilised to their maximum potential. Until they do, all the hype around them is unneccessary as their impact is not as huge as expected. (Check mobile-review.com and smape.com). By the way, the 5800xm has a freescale processor and a 3d image engine. So your point wasnt really valid.
About size, yes the iphone did sell over 10 million units. However, look at the 5310. It came out much later than the iphone yet sold more units and claims the position of the best selling music phone. So yes, size does matter.
About the xenon flash, it focuses on maximising the camera power to its full potential. What's the point of having such an expensive camera phone if its only good to use during the day?
Fm transmitter is something totally new. It isn't an upgrade to anything. Furthermore, very few phones have it. So far only Sony E, Nokia and Samsung have maybe one or two FM transmitter handsets in their portfolio. And yes i do see people running for such phones. Why do you think the n78 got such a huge number of fans despite its many drawbacks?
Sales packaging? Is a bluetooth headset the only thing thats worthy of a good packaging. The 5800xm so far has the best retail packaging i have seen so far and it doesn't come with a bluetooth headset. I would expect a phone of an expensive pricetag to have a similar packaging.
Like i said the i8510 is just an upgrade of existing features. It may be the first 8mp camera to get released, but the camera is just an upgrade of an already existing features. There are other phones that can do the same things it can do, though obviously not on the same level, but still good enough. Furthremore, even though it has the biggest megapixels in a phone, it has some really serious drawbacks which many people seem to ignore. These drawbacks can be avoided if you resort to getting a good 5mp cameraphone or maybe 3.2mp cameraphone.
3mp doesn't justify its pricetag. You may say its comparable to the n96 in this area, but at least with the n96, i get much more fantastic software that is associated to n-series which are more useful as opposed to bigger pictures. But i do agree that both units are too expensive for the functions they offer.

Anonymous, 31 Oct 2008The only thing i8510 can claim is the 8mp and good sound quality (if you check smape.com, you ... moreu said that u'd rather get these features over an 8mp camera and dnse 2.0 surround sound system:
                                      a) a power efficient processor - there is 2 such processors actually: a freescale single cpu, and an old age nomadics processor both have no 3d graphics accelerator. n85 has the freescale processor and n96 has the same 3-yr old processor of n92. they arent good at anything, just in power efficiency!
                                      b) fm transmitter - n78 has it. w980i also has it. is there any mobile phone geek out there who prioritize an fm transmitter in getting a device? fm transmitter is just an extra feature. it's not the main novelty feature of phones with such feature. even n96 doesn't have an fm transmitter.
                                      c) more compact body - is the difference between n96 and innov8's size really that huge? the iphone which is such a large device sold 10 million units worldwide and has anybody cared about its size?
                                      d) xenon flash - is xenon flash more important than the camera itself? the most overhyped phone with xenon is n82. 6220c has xenon but it doesnt stir much attention.
                                      e) better retail package - is there any nseries phone that comes with at least a bluetooth headset in the retail package?
you said innov8 is not worth it just for its 3mp more of a camera. so, is n96 worth its price for its 16gb and dvb-h only? for the record, innov8 is the first smartphone that has an 8mp camera on it. it's worth its price. dont you remember the time when n95 was the first 5mp camera smartphone? it was priced even higher than innov8. don't u get the logic? there is no alternative to innov8 that's why it is priced that much. this phone has no competition at the moment. while n82, n79 and n85 are so much cheaper because there are so many of them that have the same feature sets. and 5mp is now just a standard for a camera phone.
