It will stifle Apple's innovative ways of profit making like imposing a port standard that no one outside of Apple's ecosystem uses.

What about other manufacturers use Apple’s connector ?
I prefer my connector to break than my USB-C pin in the phone.

You mean it will stifle apples gouging of customers with their fake inovations. No one has the sort of mark up apple does.

I prefer the lightning port. Because it is unique that no android phone can use it. Apple is Apple. The lightning port is only exclusive to Apple products! Period

Apple has changed their plug several times over the years requiring customers to foot the bill every time. It is past time for standardization. The power connector does not stifle creativity unless the only creativity at Apple is in making people pay over and over because they changed the plug.

The Last Oracle, 25 Jan 2020Maybe it's time the EU said bye bye to Apple and invested in developing it's own smartphones. ... moreHaving Lightning as a competitor forced USB standards to improve resulting in USBC which is what many of us enjoy. I think Apple is right in this case, the EU would stifle competition and consumers would suffer.
Maybe concentrating on making all cables easier to recycle would be the way to go and let consumers decide on the format they want to buy.

Maybe it's time the EU said bye bye to Apple and invested in developing it's own smartphones. Apple runs sweatshops in China, defaults in Taxed running into billions in Europe, and now refuses to help progress and development because its wont be able to sell its over-hyped propreitory wires.

Apple sales in China have already crashed, which was one of their largest markets. That, and the fact that Huawei has become the No.2, has made Apple influence the US administration to orchestrate a ban on Huawei in the US, and attempting to also ban it in Europe.

Hopefully countries start finding Apple in the billions for breaching all kinds of laws and tax defaults.

Prior to Lightning, nobody cares about reversible plug. Everybody was fine with micro-USB, and the weird USB3 plug. It’s not until lightning that everyone is starting to make a big deal about reversible plug and then USB-C. The EU should be worrying more about the economic condition of their states, not harping on a phone plug.

Besides, Apple would drop the port altogether, opting for all wireless iPhone in the future. This is just the EU (and their bunch of old elitists) trying to be seen as relevant in tech.

Apple will shock the world by going portless! If you want to connect to it, buy a wireless adapter for $250! Like those you see in wireless mouse.. 2.4ghz adapters but Apple will call it Apple adapter, and it is as fast as a wifi6. So people will spend $1000, so they can plug their iphone into their speakers, tv, pc. They will also sell a $350 powered Apple adapter, that will allow you to connect to thumbdrives, harddisk or anything unpowered.

Then they will proceed to copy logitech unifying wireless adapter, which allow you to connect multiple idevices, this adapter will cost $500! Tim Cook, hire me i can give you more portless ideas!! Let us be rich together.

I would prefer lightning port to be the default standard thou. The port is hairline thinner, easier to fit the port, not stiff to remove or plug in.

But i would like to move to a single type of port, and merge all functions and can be used on any device. No more confuse if the cable support up to 100watts, or egpu. But of course, such a cable will be thick and bad on a smart phone.

Not that i agree, nor dissagree, but really? Theat's the problem EU confronts at this time and age? No wander mafia got deeper foot inside it's borders. Well, when politicians have way better things to do, like standard USB format and dongles, what should we expect? The next Eu Prime-minister would probably be Donald Duck, it suits the "made in europe" political comedy.
